Quick spent a lot of time watching her sons' baseball games . She loved cooking and was known for putting together a tasty Crock-Pot dinner for her family.
On Monday, she had picked up her 8-year-old Jackson and 13-year-old son Tanner from school early because the family was getting ready to go on a vacation to Virginia.
But an approaching tornado forced her to huddle in the closet of their home near Briarwood Elementary School with her children, mother and their dog, Luke. Quick was killed, and the dog had to be put to sleep because of the injuries.
Jackson was hospitalized with severe leg and pelvic injuries. Tanner escaped the tornado with scrapes and bruises. Her mother, Joy Waldroop, was taken to a hospital with a broken heel and a hole in her right arm.
"I couldn't ask for a better daughter," Waldroop, 61, told The Oklahoman newspaper, from the hospital. "She cared for her family."
Shannon Quick had been married to Mike Quick since 1995.

I have taken awhile to say anything,I have just been at a loss for words. I met Shannon and Mike when we all worked at Wal-mart years ago.They both pursued other careers Shannon and I recconnected when Jackson and Ryan were in the same class at Briarwood.Jackson would play basketball with
Ryan at lunch. Shannon encouraged me to enroll Ryan in the upward basketball program. He and jackson had such a grea time. Shannon and I would chat daily outside the classroom, waiting for our boys ougtside Mrs. Janzens class. She was so very proud of Tanner and Jackson.I also met Joy, thru school and basketball. We will all miss her quiet demeanor and sweet smile. May god wrap his arms around the family and provide comfort and strength for each of you.

As I read thru these entries as I have many times since they were posted, several things are so clear to us all... Shannon loved her family! Tanner & Jackson were "IT" ... oh how she adored those boys! And they adored their Mama! Shannon had a kind, gentle spirit about her & could always give you a smile. She didn't let people run over her either, but she was always kind. I am fortunate that she was my cousin. We got to grow up playing together. We romped in the creek, made mud pies, played w/puppies, Shannon's rabbit, Ralph, played in the chicken house, caught big Hop Toads & of course, taking sprinkling baths was a highlight! Many, many special memories! Me, Shannon & Hayley were inseparable growing up. I love you, Shin! See you when God calls me Home.

I personally didn't know her.. But she use to come to our place of business at EagleOnePizza.. An let me tell you when I found out I just cried and cried because she was so nice and had been coming since we had opened. I got to know her and her little boy. She was just as excited as we were when I found out I was expecting our first baby.. I'm so thankful to have gotten to know her for just a short while.. You will forever be in our hearts you and your beautiful family!! Sincerely

I met Shannon when we were camping out at Briarwood to get our children a spot in all day Kindergarten; our children became good friends. I use to talk to her on a daily bases while waiting to pick our kids up from school. She was a very sweet woman and she will truely be missed. My heart and prayers go out to her family. Jackson and his recovery weighs heavily on our mind.

I worked with Shannon for almost 3 years at lowes and she was a awesome person. We frequently talked about the schools are children was attending and activities they were involved in. I stayed in contact with her as I have worked in other lowes store over the past 3 years. She will be greatly missed and forever be in my heart.

Tanner is my granddaughter Caeli Bartlett's friend. Shannon and I waited for them at the school for years. She is the sweetest person and we loved her very much. So sad.

I met Shannon years ago when she stepped up and donated wrapping paper for gifts to a family that we had adopted for Christmas. We sat on their living room floor wrapping gifts as Lil Tanner ran around in his Superman underoos. Husband Mike is a part of our UPS/Teamster family so when one of our Brothers are hurting, we all hurt. This world is a better place Shannon because you were in it and you will definitely be missed. "God, take this family in your loving arms. Give them comfort and strength for what lies ahead." Amen.
