I can only thank Tim for forming the finest jazz vocal group of his generation Album after album of superlative music. Never afraid of the new and never too nostalgic to remind us that his roots were firmly in the jazz heritage...RIP

In high school had honor to sing in front of MT minus Janis for a jazz competition, we sang Body and Soul. (We won) 10 yrs later I met Tim after a concert. He remembered us and was so sweet! Many great memories growing up involve MT. I'm so sad. But I'm grateful we learned from him. Saw them this spring with my dad. It will never be the same. Thoughts and prayers for his children and rest of family.

I've been singing your parts for 30 years since I was first introduced to Jazz and your songs at Western Michigan University in The Gold Company under Stephen Zegree. You inspired generations of students as myself with your gift. You are missed and happily have left much behind that will live on! How many people can say that?

Of course I didn't know him (or Cheryl, or Janis, or Alan for that matter), but I know his music (their music) and I saw them a dozen times since the seventies. I don't usually get emotional over the deaths of artists, but Tim Hauser's hit me hard. I just want it not to be true, I want it to be a mistake and Hauser will bring the Manhattan Transfer to town, as usual, next year and everything will be all right. Make me smile again, like a child of three . . . How we'll miss you, man.

Tim gave me my first professional gig. He paid me $5 to run the bubble machine when Manhattan Transfer opened for the Pointer Sisters at Wollman rink in Central Park. Later I would mix Manhattan Transfer a few times. That group in performance was amazing. Tim's commitment to perfection was an inspiration and the music was a joy to experience. He was a friend and a teacher, I miss him very much. Thank you Tim.

My deepest condolences to Mr. Hauser's family and friends. You will be in my prayers.
I appreciate his great work as a musician, and I am sure people will be listening to his voice for many, many years. My favorite song that he did with the Manhattan Transfer was "Soul Food To Go," based on Brasilian singer Djavan's song "Sina." Anyone watching the video for that song will find it heartwarming, as Mr. Hauser sings the lead part, plus there are animated figures of him and the other group members that "sing" in this one. It is a joyful sounding song.
I hope this, and other memories of him will bring some comfort in this difficult time.
