Ben Woolf Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 23, 2015.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — A representative for Ben Woolf, an actor on "American Horror Story," says Woolf has died.

The actor died Monday afternoon at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, publicist Zack Teperman said. Woolf's family was at his side.

The 4-foot-4 actor was hospitalized in critical condition after he was hit by the side mirror of a passing vehicle on an LA area street.

The motorist stopped at the scene last Thursday night and was not cited or arrested.

Woolf was a cast member on the FX show since 2011.

In a statement, Woolf's family said they have been overwhelmed by the love and support they've received for him.

Teperman, his publicist, called Woolf "one-of-a-kind," and a caring and hard-working man.

To Ben's family and friends: I am watching AHS, and Ben for the first time. I Googled him because I wanted to read about his life, which interested me because he plays such an endearing character in Meep. How terribly sad it was to read that he died in February. I am so sorry. I have read quite a bit about him and it sounds like he was a very special and loving human being. Please accept my sympathy.

I wanted to extend my condolences to this young man's family. I'm so very sorry for your loss. Even though I never knew Ben Woolf, from all that I've heard and read he was simply the best of us. Kind, humble, generous, sweet, and innocent. and it showed in his eyes. Gone too soon but left a real impact. RIP.

It is just so devastating for Ben to die that young. I can't imagine how the Woolf family feels. Oh, how I look forward to the time when death will be a thing of the past on this earth. 1Cor 15:54-55. Condolences to the family.

Life well lived, Ben Woolf. Sleep peacefully until we inherit the many promises found in God's word. (Matthew 6:9-10) Our deepest sympathy for the loss of a treasured loved one!

I have never met the guy and I'm upset to hear about Ben's death. He seemed like a guy who made the world better around him and didn't let his limitations stop him from living out his dreams. He is a classic underdog story. And a perfect example of what a person can accomplish if they set their mind to it. Even in death he saved 3 people's lives. With all of the ugliness in this world it's a shame that a guy like Ben couldn't stay around and bring joy into other people's lives. God bless Ben's family and friends. Hope we get to meet in heaven brother.

"Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified. Let your kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also on earth" (Matt. 6:9,10). We await that day when this prayer will be fulfilled and loved ones will be united again.

You're truly missed! Thursday night (Feb 19, 2015) I was talking with you in class and shaking your hand and had no idea that would be the last time I would ever see you. You made such a positive impact on my life as an actor and a person. You're missed and never forgotten. I can't express in words the void I feel without you here. You're in a better place now.

I only met Ben once but he made a lasting impression on me and I wanted to share my experience with his family. Even though I'm sure you all know better than anyone what a wonderful person he was.

When I read about Ben Woolf being in the hospital, I immediately recognized him and assumed I'd seen him a million times in movies. But when I looked him up, I hadn't seen anything he'd been in (I haven't caught up on AHS in a couple years).

My friend works with Dogs Without Borders and I volunteered at an adoption on a pouring rainy saturday last year (March 1, 2014) at a store called Tailwaggers in LA and remember a man coming in to take Lisa, a little white curly thing that just lit up when she saw him, for a walk. I was told he came every weekend just to spend time with her and take her for walks. She was an older dog who'd been with them a while. She had medical problems and no one seemed to want to adopt her. But this man loved her so much and wanted to adopt her so bad or even just foster her for a while.
He told me that he had applied several times and "didn't qualify." It seemed crazy to me that someone so dedicated should be kept from giving this girl the forever home she so very much needed. I told him he should just apply again and keep trying til they let him take her. I was heartbroken that someone who went out of his way every week just to visit and walk a dog he had so much of a bond with wasn't even allowed to adopt her. I asked the staff why and tried to understand their reasoning.
He hung around for a couple of hours. I heard him explain to the staff his plans to care for her even with his long work hours. I was so glad when I suddenly saw him filling out paperwork but even more so when I saw that he had been granted foster care of Lisa. You should have seen how happy he was as I said my goodbyes to them both.

I only met Ben this one time but he made such a lasting impression on me that I called my mother in Michigan and told her about him and what happened. He was so patient with the staff and so humble (I never knew he was an actor let alone star of one of the biggest shows on television). I admired him greatly and took note on how he handled the situation so that I might learn to handle great frustration with such class and grace.

I am so very sad for the senseless loss of such a young man with such an honest, good, selfless heart, at the start of a long career, and for Lisa's loss of her forever Dad.

I posted the story on my instagram in an effort to let the world know that he wasn't just talented man who was taken too soon, but that this was a genuinely good and strong man that made a lasting impression on me. I got a couple notes from others who he touched similarly and thought I would pass them along:

"devilwearschanel
He loved her soo much. He would come very often to our Petco store to take Lisa for groomings and just to spoil her. It's so heartbreaking that he was taken away so suddenly from her and his family and fans.. And thanks for sharing this"

"hollywoodjacksparrow
He really did love her and he brought joy to all of us when we'd see them strolling along together on the Walk of Fame. Thank you for sharing this story!"

My most sincere condolences,

Meaghan O'Keefe

The sorrow of the faithful
is not that of permanent loss,
but the tender sense of sadness
that comes in saying good-bye for now
to someone we love.
May today's sorrow give way
to the peace and
comfort of God's love.
