WDBJ Shooting Victims Obituary
Reporter Alison Parker, 24, and a photographer, Adam Ward, 27, were conducting an interview at the Bridgewater Plaza for the Roanoke-area station when shots were fired, apparently deliberately. The interview was being broadcast live. Both Parker and Ward were killed, and the interview subject was injured in the shooting.
Parker was the station's morning reporter, a Virginia native who attended Patrick Henry Community College and James Madison University. Photographer Ward was a Virginia Tech graduate and was engaged to a co-worker. In a WDBJ broadcast about the news, colleagues described both as well-liked at the TV station and good at their jobs, while co-workers and friends wept in the background.
"It is with extreme sadness that we report WDBJ7 reporter Alison Parker and photographer Adam Ward were killed in an attack at Bridgewater Plaza this morning," the station wrote in a Facebook post.
Chris Hurst, Parker's boyfriend, tweeted, "She was the most radiant woman I ever met. And for some reason she loved me back. She loved her family, her parents and her brother."
Hours later, the apparent gunman died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, officials said.

This is so sad and so tragic but the strength shown by you, the parents of these wonderful young people, is simply inspiring. Nobody can express words that will heal or make this easier.
