Cara McCollum Obituary
McCollum died Monday after she lost control of her car and crashed into a tree last week, according to a Facebook page, Prayers for Cara, that relatives maintain.
"Thank you all for this tremendous outpouring of love and support for our Cara. We can’t begin to tell you how much your prayers have meant to us in this incredibly difficult time," the page states.
Her family "was with her in the operating room, and she died peacefully at 4:31 a.m. Before she died, Cara made the selfless decision to donate her organs. At this very moment, she is saving lives.
"We’ve prayed constantly for a miracle, and we believe God has answered our prayers. Although it’s not the miracle that we first envisioned, it’s a miracle nonetheless.
"In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years. Please accept our sincerest thanks for your heartfelt prayers. We all will miss her now that she’s gone."
McCollum was born Feb. 6, 1992, in Forrest City, Arkansas. The high school valedictorian received an undergraduate degree from Princeton University in New Jersey. She won the title of Miss New Jersey in June 2013.
She went on to become a TV news anchor in July 2015 for "SNJ Today."

Such a beautiful girl. Am so deeply sorry for the loss of your dear loved one. My 19 yr old nephew was also killed in a car wreck after hitting a tree. Truly devastating, but at the same time

Praying for Cara's family and boyfriend, Keith. I lost my precious son tragically almost nine years ago. I thought I would never recover. Intense pain in your heart will lessen, but your life will be forever changed. This is a "club" no parent wants to be in. Cara was so beautiful in so many ways, a real credit to her loving family. She left the ultimate gift through her organ donation. God bless you, beautiful Cara.

All I can say is wow,"What a beautiful life that her parents and the Lord brought forth. This kindred spirit that certainly indwelled within Cara will continue as she is more than touching lives after her walk into heaven. The Lord does allow all things for his plan and purpose. "Well done servant," is what we want to hear when we see him face to face. Prayers for her lovely parents and family remain. The Lord will lead you as you find rest through the Comforter..Holy Spirit. Already have a school in motion trying to get Cara's love for reading and living even if you never leave your state. A little less than a month ago, I found myself struggling pretty badly with depression. Not that unusual for me unfortunately, but this week it was particularly bad. I remember I was laying in bed and I looked on my phone and saw that Cara had "liked" one of my Instagram photos (it was a kind of quirky post about how creepy those singing christmas caroler figures are lol). It might seem like a minor thing, but it made my day. I thought Cara was great and I always "liked" her posts, so I'm guessing that's how she noticed me. Anyway, I'm glad to know that she got joy out of something I did, and I just wanted to share this story of one of the many positive connections that Cara made with others.

I am so sorry for your loss. My heart breaks for your family. I didn't know Cara personally but I know her co-worker, Kim Kerr, who grew up with my daughter. We were praying so hard for Cara's recovery. I guess God needed her up in Heaven. Cara seemed like a bright light, a beautiful soul. She will always be with you.

I was shocked to hear of this devastating tragedy. A young life take from us way too soon. Two years ago, my family and I attended a function at Met Life Stadium at which Cara posed for photos with my two young daughters, prior to signing the national anthem. She was patient and sweet; bursting of life and love. I still have those photos and looked at them yesterday with my kids. I will cherish the moment she shared with my kids. You could see her spirit and her soul. Immaculate person. Thank you Cara.
