Angela Paton Obituary
Paton had been in hospice care after a recent heart attack.
Born January 11, 1930 in New York, New York, Paton began her career primarily as a stage actress in the San Francisco area, becoming a legend of the local theatre. She and her husband, Bob Goldsby, founded the Berkeley Stage Company.
Paton found her way to the big screen with a small and uncredited role in 1971's "Dirty Harry," with credited roles to follow in films including "Flatliners" (1990), "The Wedding Singer" (1998), and "American Wedding" (2003).
Most movie fans knew Paton best for "Groundhog Day" (1993), in which she portrayed the small-town innkeeper, Mrs. Lancaster, who played host to Bill Murray's Phil Connor as he is stuck in a time loop.

Paton also appeared widely on television, taking guest roles on dozens of shows including "Falcon Crest," "Home Improvement," "The X-Files," and "Grey's Anatomy."
In 2012, Paton appeared on Broadway in a revival of "Harvey."

My sympathy to your family on Ms. Paton's passing. She was a lovely character actress who contributed to film and stage.
As often as I have watched, "Groundhog Day". over the years, I came to love her very memorable performance as the innkeeper.
