Edwin Jackson Obituary
Jackson was a passenger in a car driven by Jeffrey Monroe, a ride share driver. Jackson felt ill so Monroe pulled his car on to the shoulder and both men exited the vehicle. They were struck by a pick-up truck while on the shoulder and both men died at the scene. Monroe was 54.
The driver of the pick-up truck was arrested after trying to flee. He did not have a license and is suspected of driving while intoxicated.
The Indianapolis Colts released a statement:
"We were heartbroken to hear the news of Edwin Jackson's passing," the Colts said in a statement. "Edwin was loved by all in the Colts organization. We admired his outgoing personality, competitive spirit and hard-working mentality. He was well-respected among all with whom he crossed paths, and he will be greatly missed in our locker room and throughout our entire organization. We also understand that another person lost his life in the accident, only adding to our sorrow on this day. We are shocked and saddened by this tragedy, and our thoughts and prayers are with the families of both men during this difficult time."
The Colts singed Jackson to their practice squad in 2015. He played 8 games at inside linebacker for the Colts in 2016. He missed all of last season with an injury.
Jackson played in college for Georgia Southern where he was a first team All-Sun-Belt Conference selection in 2014.

I was blessed to be Edwin's first and second grade teacher. I will never forget what an amazing kid he was and that he had the most wonderful family. I was also lucky enough to get to teach his sister Michelle as well. My heart breaks for the family. I am not at all surprised at all of the wonderful things that Edwin accomplished in his 26 years, he was a leader and role model at 6 and 7 years old. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends.

We met Edwin when my son played football with him at Georgia Southern. He was a wonderful young man, full of life and passion for the things he loved. We run a mission program in Costa Rica and shared stories with him about his time in Jaco Beach, CR. Now he is serving the Lord face to face!
