Trevor Baylis Obituary
David Bunting, CEO of Trevor Baylis Brands, says Baylis died Monday after a lengthy illness.

Baylis developed his best-known invention after seeing a television program on AIDS in Africa and learning that people weren't getting lifesaving information because they didn't have electricity and couldn't afford batteries to power radios.
Inspired by old-fashioned gramophones, Baylis designed a wind-up radio. The invention won him international acclaim and an audience with South African icon Nelson Mandela, but didn't pay huge dividends. He later formed a company to help inventors protect and market products, but wasn't motivated by wealth.
"Inventing is not about the money," he was quoted by the BBC as saying. "Who wants to be the richest man in the graveyard?"

I will always remember my father and Trevor heads together under the bonnet of which ever car either was working on - visiting his work shop - seeing his excitement over his 'wind-up radio'. I moved away had a family, my boys met him when they were young. We all have fond memories of Trevor. RIP Casey Clarke nee Kester

Trevor and I worked together at Purley Pools Ltd all through the 1960's and afterwards when he was a great help to me with structural calculations, even when he was recovering from Crones he came to many of my families parties, weddings etc - and I went to a number of his birthday parties on the Island when he had The Temperence Seven playing, also friends of mine - He had already had over 250 inventions being used by the time we left Purley in about 1969, so how many he must have logged up in the end must have been enormous .I shall miss Trevor and his catalogue of one liners and I shall miss his so cheerful Character - Rest in peace Trev - William Beresford Hales - Bill For short. - To his friends as he had no family.

It's never easy experiencing the death of a love one. The Bible provides us with an abundance of comfort at a time like this. In the book of Isaiah, chapter 41 verse 10 and 11, it reads, "do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be anxious for I am your God. I will fortify you, yes, I will really help you, I will really hold on to you with my right hand of righteousness". Can you that? God caring about you so much that he is holding you.

It's always neat to get someone's back story. He sounded like a top notch guy who only had the desire to help others. Ecclesiastes 7 1 talks about a person who makes a good name for themselves....it's easy to see that, that is what he did.
