I was a student at city College, took Latin band multiple times and his class on the history of Latin jazz. He was tough, but in the best way, he pushed you and made you a better musician. Never forget the day I graduated, he had some of his friends as ringers in our band and when he introduced me to one of them, he said “this is Mr. Trust. I yelled at him For two years, until I didn’t anymore.” In other words, I finally got it, I finally felt the rhythms. RIP Maestro!!!

We are saddened to learn about the death of your dear dad, and we send our heartfelt condolences and sympathy to you during this most difficult time. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him and who enjoyed his renowned musical talents.
El Maestro, as he was affectionately known as, had a creative determination that will continue to enrich the musical arts in years to come. We appreciate his gifts as an accomplished saxophonist, composer, arranger, and educator. It has been said that his quiet demeanor always projected strength, dignity, humility, and knowledge. As a distinguished educator of his art, we are thankful he passed his vast knowledge of Latin music to future generations. His legacy will continue.
