Oh Mr Ron Fairly! My teenage years were spent with such a crush on you! I’m 78 now but in the early 60s when my family would go to Dodger Stadium it was with two things in tow: a transistor radio so we could listen to Vin Scully and binoculars so I could drool over #6 in the outfield which I did with great joy. Even now as I write this there’s a Dodgers/Reds game just about to start. On Fathers Day in 1959, when Cincinnati was known as the Redlegs, we saw you all get royally trounced 17-3, hahaha. No matter, I still used my binoculars that day. You were sooo handsome! Rest in sweet peace and thank you for so many years of joy.

I was talking with a friend the other day about my fond memory of Ron Fairly and his family living in Panorama City, CA. His son and I were friends. My Mom and Ron's wife Mary were good friends. I was only 6 years old but what a wonderful memory I still have today. I just read about Ron Fairly passed away. I am very sorry to hear about his passing. RIP #6

Ron was sometimes my roommate with the Blue Jays in 977,he was a great friend, consulate professional who helped all the young ball players. My fondest memory was in a game against the CWS. Ron batted 4th and I Batted 5th, before the inning started, RON called me over and said ....watch how Steve Stone pitches me, he will pitch you the same. He started off Ron with a hard slider in...he gave me the same pitch and i hit a single to right...next time up he gave me the same fastball away (Same as Ron), I Hit another single...THAnks Ron 2 for 2.
Years later I Was up for an old timers game in Toronto and Ron was announcing...he called me to the booth and talked during the inning with me doing the color...no one but Ron would have done that....I was a nobody...ROn treated me like a somebody in baseball.
May the peace that passeth all understanding be with you Ron...class act!

My condolences to Rons family during this very difficult time in your lives. I hope that your wonderful family memories will help lighten your sorrow.
Ron was a friend at Jordan High where his athletic skills were exciting to watch, both in basketball and baseball games. But more importantly, he was a truly nice guy - to everyone.
The last time I spoke with him was in a hotel lobby in Spokane. I was a new stewardess for United Airlines and we spotted one another as I walked across the lobby. Ron was so excited because he just had finished a photo shoot for his first baseball card. Although our paths never crossed again, I followed his career and always thought of him with affection. May he Rest In Peace.

Ronny was my first ML roommate with the 1976 St. Louis Cardinals. When he would take me around and introduce me to his friends, he would say, "I played with his Father Don Zimmer"! That was always a big laugh when we were together. My Dad and Ron were World Series Champions together with the early LA Dodgers. Ron treated me as a little brother and was really almost a father figure to me. He was a wonderful man that I will remember forever. My condolences to his children, we lost another great idol. Our deepest sympathies to the Fairly Family. I remember when our son's and Ron's grandson's travel ball team was headed to Cooperstown. Ron came to a practice to talk baseball and shared his love of the game with the team. That is a memory that all the boys will carry with them forever. Thank you for all you did. You will be missed. A wonderful life in baseball and a special man who loved to say that he was lucky never having to work a real job, with his office being whatever stadium he was at for the over 7,000 Major League games that he was a part of. Ron kindly contributed to my upcoming book that will now always be a void without being able to share the final product with him. Thanks for everything and I will always miss our chats. RIP Ron.

I often saw Ron play, when he was with the Dodgers and Expos. He was a solid Major Leaguer. In later years, I regularly enjoyed his announcing work for the Giants. Also had the good fortune to have a few brief visits with him, at Candlestick Park, during which he was always very nice.
A good man, and a Good Baseball Man. Rest in Peace, Ron. You brought a lot of joy to a lot of people.

God bless good ole Ron Fairly. He was my favorite player on the Dodgers during the Koufax / Drysdale era. My favorite number is #6, and that number I got from Ron Fairly. I remember a Dodger series against the Cardinals one year when the Dodgers, in a pennant race, met the Cardinals who had managed something like a 19 game winning streak at the time, and how Fairly virtually by himself, put the Cardinals down with his batting. A friend of mine in high school greeted me one morning during that time and said ----- Congratulations, your boy did it again last night !!!!! Paul Kurm, [email protected]
