I had the pleasure of working at SMUD when Mr. Freeman was the General Manager. Although we didn't cross paths too much, I remember him as being a personable and thoughtful person. When I ran across him again about 10 years ago, he was still the same friendly person who greeted me warmly. My sincerest condolences to his family.

I am utterly devastated and incredibly saddened to hear of his passing. He was such a bright ray of light to anyone who has ever known him, and his age did not ever define his energy or spirit. I feel devastated to hear of his passing and still cannot believe it. I know he is in heaven now, having a great time per usual and making everyone around him laugh and smile with his great wit and personality, but the loss still devastates me. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. May you rest in peace David, and you will surely be missed by anyone who has ever known you.

I am honored to have had the chance to work with David Freeman on one of his last projects, the closure of the Diablo Canyon nuclear powerplant in 2024-25. He was a giant in the industry and a force for change and for good all his life.

Mr. Freeman was, and will always be, a hero to me. I had the privilege to spend a day with him and Tennessee solar advocates several years ago trying to convince TVA to move more ambitiously on renewable energy and efficiency. I learned so much in that short time and will always continue that effort with David's inspiration in my heart.
