Dr Jose Baselga had been intrumental in changing the treatment paradigm in many of the disciplines in Breast Cancer including HER2 positive and receptor positive breast cancer using targeted therapy. I had the deep pleasure of meeting him once at SABCS. He was pleasant and humble and had an aura of academic excellence embedded within. I would always look forward to his presentation at SABCS, which over the years proved to be game changers in the field of Breast cancer. We have lost a vital leadership in breast cancer research that will be felt internationally. He enriched the lives of practicing physicians like myself. I was deeply saddened by his death. I will miss him at SABCS.

I’m a cancer survivor, twice.
I didn’t know this Dr. if
I did, I would have traveled to where ever He was. I didn’t or ever heard of the medication
mentioned. From a small town, but grateful I’m still here.
RIP Sir. You did miraculous work. Our Lord is waiting to meet You with open arms.

I was incredibly fortunate to have Dr. Baselga as my doctor from 2013 until his 2nd to last day at MSKCC in 2018. I’m grateful for his personalized, excellent and compassionate care, and still miss how much I learned every time I saw him. He was brilliant and cared so deeply. We’ve lost one of the best scientists, doctors, and humans. My condolences to his family who he spoke about with such love.

I never knew of or knew Jose until news of his passing came up on my news feed but this is what I have to say to this man and his family...if not for him and his research into better treatment for breast cancer, I would have been dead at 56. I was treated with both perjeta and herceptin...cadillac treatment my oncologist called it. I am alive today because of the work Jose did in the oncology field. I am sad that his brilliance and tenacity to help people and save patients is gone from this world much too early.
