I'm saddened to learn of the loss of this great hero. I have lived in Knoxville for the last 25 years. I wish I had known of Charles sooner. I would have liked to meet him. I thank God for the dread champions he raised up during WWII to save the world from totalitarianism and chaos. RIP Mr. Coolidge.

Charles and I were high school friends. He transferred from Baylor to City about the same time my family moved from Greeneville. We became good friends Sometime he walked me home from school carrying my books. We also knew each other through church.
I remember picnics with all of our at his house on Signal Mountain His mom made large, wonderful casseroles. We enjoyed hiking on th mountain trails of Sigmal and Lookout.
One thing he did was very scary. He would drive down Signal Mountain’s W Riad without ever touching the brakes!! It was scary but it showed something of his daring nature.
I was so sad to hear of my friend Charles’ passing. So sad. He was a very good boy and man.
