I just watched The Execution of Private Slovikth and Ned Beatty played the chaplain. I also remember him playing a chaplain in an episode of MASH in the 4th season. Ned Beatty was excellent no matter what role he played. Rest in Peace Ned Beatty.

Ned Beatty was one of the most underrated actors of his time. I never miss a chance to watch one of his movies. Every time I watch a movie on TCM involving a small time sheriff I can't help but think that Mr Beatty would have been a much better actor for the role.

To a GREAT actor, fellow resident of Louisville, and alumnus of Eastern High School. Deliverance is still one of my favorite films of all time. My mom and grandmother have many fond memories of Ned's mother when they were neighbors in St. Matthews. My mom graduated from Waggener High School and my grandmother worked with Ned's mother at Waggener. They often rode with her to school before my mom could drive. I am proud to have graduated from the same high school as Ned. Ned did a lot of charity work here and never forgot his roots. My thoughts and condolences go to the Beatty family.

I am a 44 year Member of Sixth Grace Presbyterian Church, 600 East 35th Street, Chicago, Illinois 60616. I am also their "Advertising", "Marketing", and "Public Relations Person". Reverend Dr. David B. Thornton is the Pastor. And Reverend Donald B. Register is the Pastor Emeritus.
I am also A Former Member of Church Musician Ship Guild, Inc. (1988-2008). The late Dr. Mildred G. Lewis was The Founder, and Executive Director. I was their Assistant Administrative Secretary, Executive Secretary, and Public Relations Director.
I would like to extend to all of you my heartfelt condolences on your loss. Ned was a great actor. He will be missed by all of those people who knew, and loved him. And especially by all of those people whose lives that he had touched. He did leave a great legacy. All I can say is, "Rest In Peace, Ned".
