My heartfelt condolences are offered to the family, many, many friends, and fans of Robbie Shakespeare. Robbie Shakespeare was a giant bassist in the legendary rhythm section Sly and Robbie for reggae music that create the genre in Jamaica. May the love and many, many special memories you shared with your devoted loved one show how much your life was touched by him. May the God of comfort bless your grieving hearts with strength, loving kindness and peace as the world copes with the loss of Robbie Shakespeare. May his music and legacy keep his memory alive forever.

Having had the opportunity to meet him and develop a friendship brings shock and sadness to my heart for his wife and son. I met Robbie while he toured with Black Uhuru in Ann Arbor, MI. I asked him if I could consult with him about my music recording project. He invited me to come to Jamaica and visit him at a recording studio named Magic Mountain in the hills over looking Kingston while traveling to Jamaica in 1990. Robbie was an inspiration to my music career. I stayed with him for three days at that recording studio and learned a lot about recording and mixing reggae music. He will greatly be missed by the world of fans who he touched with his bass guitar. My condolences Sheb Schwae & The Makah Rhythm Tribe.

Words are not enough to say how sad I am that Robbie Shakespeare has died. My deepest condolences to Robbie's family, friends, and colleagues. Special condolences to Sly Dunbar & Guillaume Bougard who were just a few of Robbie's closest associates.
