RIP Mr Binnie
William deMontigny
January 12, 2023
I'm sorry to hear about the loss of Brian. I remember him as a fellow soccer player who came from Scotland to play with Lexington High School. I could see he was completely on a different level then me, although I did have a good corner kick. I was also impressed by the power of his shot and as he played center position. I was also impressed by the way he could snap back his head and power the ball into the goal. It was a great lesson for me! It didn't surprise me to hear of his highly successful career in aeronautics. It was a joy to play on the same team as him. I'd like to offer my condolences to his family.

I had the pleasure of meeting Brian Binnie in December 2012 at the Adler Planetarium in Chicago where I attended a talk he was giving. I got to chat with him at the conclusion, and after telling him I was also a Brian, he shook my hand and said that he didn't meet many other people with our name. As we talked about space his excitement at the future of space travel was palpable. When I mentioned that it has always been my dream to go into space he said to me "Brian, I am working hard to make that dream possible and affordable!"
The photo I had taken with him and sent to him to be autographed hangs on my wall to this day. A true American hero. He will be missed.
