To the Packer Family,
My deepest condolences to all of you in the loss of your dear father.
I just now saw the news of his passing. I do have vague memories of him...but my heart still remembers your dear mother, Barbara.
The Sucansky family lived next door on the other half of our home on East Union Blvd. In Bethlehem. We were invited to Barbara & Billy's wedding. I was 9 yrs. old in 1961.
I remember to this day how beautiful & KIND Barbara was. I missed her when she married & left.
My cousin, Pat Gillen, was also a basketball player at Liberty High School. I remember that he, my sister Joan, & Barbara & Gloria would sometimes walk to school together.
It takes a sad event to bring back so many warm & wonderful memories of our dear neighbors, the Sucansky family.
May Barbara & Billy rest in eternal peace.
Thanks for the memories.

To the Packer family, please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of an amazing man. Mr Packer is why (to this day) I watch the NCAA tournament. I live in Ottawa, On Canada and thanks to his professionalism and knowledge ( he shared later on in his career) of the game, when March rolls around I become all excited and look very much forward to all the different games.

I was a neighbor and good friend of Billy and his wife Barbara. My wife and I would go over to True Pizza with the two of them and enjoyed every minute of it.
He had so many great stories I would rather just sit there and listen to him than interrupt. He was a great neighbor and we shared a lot of mutual personal views. And when we disagreed sometimes, it was always with a friendly banter.
I have an Autistic son who graduated from UNCC and wanted to go on to Graduate School and when Billy found out he jumped right in and helped with a strong recommendation. My son was accepted. After he graduated Billy was instrumental in helping him secure a wonderful job at the Univ. of Miami. And I will be forever grateful.
I loved both he and his wonderful wife. Incredible people. May they rest in peace.

I went to grade school, junior high school, and high school with Billy. I watched him play basketball on the Hamilton school playground, at Nitchman junior high school, and at liberty high school. My husband played on our high school team with jim. Billy, has a dubious distinction of telling me there was no Santa Claus! We spent a lot of time together in grade school, and I remember many incidents with him and the teachers. It was always fun even though I was a little bit intimidated. I went to nursing school with Barbara and I consider them friends. I am very sad to hear about the passing of each of them. I send my condolences to the whole family.

I remember Billy Packer as a standout in high school basketball in Bethlehem, PA! He used to practice with 2 basketball friends, Dave Sellers & Al Senevitis at the elementary playground a block from my home. I loved to go up and watch the 3 of them work out. They were fantastic ball players and led our high school to championship games in Hershey, PA and Philadelphia! I also listened to him once he started his career in broadcasting. He was a fantastic person!

Donna and I extend our deepest condolences to the Packer family during this time of sorrow and grief. The Packer family was a significant part of our young teen years, thinking back with Mark and Liz - from middle school basketball, to the bus from Pinebrook, to birthday parties at the Packer home. Mark and Liz are clearly the product of their mother and father´s leadership and loving qualities, who are now together in heaven. Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Billy sold ads for my dad’s business. When NCSU was playing in a regional in GSO he asked my brother if he had tickets. Being a student there, he wasn’t able to get them. Billy got him a ticket. Years later he did his travel at a agency where I worked. Every time he came to get his tickets he always asked about my Dad. I always remember how interested he was on getting updates.

Billy was a true gentleman - always caring about doing the right thing. He was trustworthy, honest, and always kept his word. He was a great blessing to my late husband and our family. Thank you, Billy, for always being a man of honor, who loved his family and friends. May you find rest and peace, now and always with the Lord Jesus. Comfort and condolences to your family.

Billy and I shared the same suite at Wake Forest our freshman year at Wake Forest. Also, I was privileged to be on the freshman baseball team with him. He was a true friend and as fine a gentleman as one could find. I will always cherish the good memories of our friendship.
May the Lord comfort and strengthen the family as they heal from the loss of their loved one.

Always wondered for years if Billy was a related to my family in South Dakota. My great grandpa Bob Packer came to the Dakotas from Pennsylvania with his family. He had a brother who decided to head back to Pennsylvania and they never heard from him again. He would have been around Billy´s dads age. I guess maybe we´ll never know but Billy always had the same hair cut as our Packer families hair cuts. Rip Billy thought and prayers to the family. Sincerely. Bob Packer. the third
