I met Judy when my daughter, Amber Buckley-Shaklee, was honored to have an internship under her when Judy served as Special Advisor for International Disability Rights in the State Department. Amber loved Judy and stayed in touch with her until Amber died in 2015. In fact Judy often called Amber - very early. Amber and I spent a delightful day with Judy at the National Zoo. Judy was rolling along speaking to everyone. She was the most outgoing, lovely person I have ever met. She brought light to this world, and it suddenly feels darker without her in it. We must carry on her work. My condolences go out to all of her family and friends. What a blessing to have had her in your lives.

Judy, we never met, but you changed my world and the entire world. You fuel my advocacy and activism and always will. My heart hurts with you loss. It is traditional in our faith to say "May her memory be a blessing," but in your case, this seems rhetorical. I love you.

So sorry to hear about the passing of Judy. She was truly a pioneer for the rights of the disabled. We attended Long Island University together, as well as numerous rallies advocating for the rights of the disabled. Although Judy is no longer with us, the footprints that she left will continue to inspire others. I will forever remember her, she made it happen for the disabled, never giving up.

I am a dental hygiene clinical course director & teach about the Americans with Disabilities Act in one of my classes. Part of the learning experience is watching Crip Camp, where students were first introduced to Judy. Today (3/7) the students were assigned their final course project, which involves customizing care for individuals with special needs. It was then that a student let the class know that Judy had passed away. To say that the class was impacted was an understatement. She truly inspired these future dental hygiene professionals to provide person-centered-care for all individuals. That said, they are completing their final projects in Judy's memory... Such an inspiration!
