Owen was such an incredible tennis player, coach and mentor. I was recently thinking about a tennis lesson at HRC in the early 70s when he said "try to hit this shot" which was a back hand from the baseline placed short cross court. An incredibly effective shot even to this day!
Rest in peace, Davo.

Owen Davidson, I called him Dr O and Davo. I respected him and admired him. He was a world class tennis player and a world class guy. A real man’s man! He was bigger than life, hex always had a spark in his eye and he enjoyed life to the fullest. He earned all our respect. I admired how he and his Australian tennis peers supported each other and kept up with each other by sharing lifelong memories. Not just Australians. From my own experiences I’ve seen him and Billie Jean King when he worked out daily with her for several months. Billie was also a very classy lady and it was a thrill to be at the Astrodome when she beat Bobby Riggs. Cliff Drysdale came to our club to be Owens best man when he married Arlene. Owen on many occasions brought out Ken Rosewall, Roy Emerson, Rod Laver and Fred Stolle to party Drinking Foster beer and hitting tennis balls with each other and sometimes even played fun tennis with the members. He transformed our club into a Camelot dream let us long remember not to be forgot our Camelot! And so to forever remember our shining knight David Owenson, who left us to keep and maintain Camelot! He lives in my heart! Farewell sir Knight we all miss you!

What an amazing person. I was in awe of him as a 14 year old taking tennis lessons. As good as he was as a player, he was as good or better as a coach. RIP Owen. You will be missed.
