Your rendition of "A girl from Ipanema" with Stan Getz and husband Joao Gilberto is still my favorite of all time. I cherish the LP in my record collection, now in its 50th anniversary ! John Read , Connecticut.

Fate brought me and Astrud together with a thud! While on tour with Stan Getz in 1966, she performed an outdoor concert in Skokie, Illinois. I was seated directly behind the stage. As she climbed the stairs in her seven-inch-high stiletto heels, one heel caught in a crack of the steps. Astrud tumbled backward off the stage and landed right on top of me. I caught her and broke her fall with my body, saving her from death or serious injury. In gratitude, she gave me a hug and a big kiss. I got her back on her feet and helped her up the steps to the stage, where she performed beautifully. I shall never forget the day that destiny thrusted the lovely Astrud Gilberto into my arms.

As a close friend of her son, Marcelo, I spent 5 years at her home in Penn Valley, PA, between 1966 and 1971. We did a lot of things together. I remember her taking me to "Two Guys" department store and buying me a copy of "Hey Jude". I also recall tour rehearsals in her den with Bossa Nova artists.
