George was a kind soul who helped others. I went to Hillcrest High School with him and enjoyed my time with him. We're praying for his family in their sorrow. Keith Gillming, Lighthouse Baptist Church, St. Louis

I will always remember George with a big smile and/or a laugh...many times after practical jokes at my expense. I never saw him turn down a request for an autograph, tickets on short notice or help with a charity. You did not have to be famous or a great ball player to earn his friendship. He was truly one of the good guys. I will miss him very much.

I’m deeply saddened by George’s passing. We grew up playing baseball against each other. I saw George in Pittsburgh right after he was traded from the Indians to the Cubs (along with Rick Sutcliffe & Ron Hassey) in 1984. George took us to lunch the next day and left us tickets at the “will call” window that night. George was a great guy. Please accept my condolences.

George was a hero to me and to so many others. When I wrote the novel, Will to Win, which is the basis for an upcoming movie, I featured George and his daughter Georgia in the story. He was a gracious giant of a human being who gave us all many fond memories and an example of a life well-lived.

I had the pleasure of meeting George when he pitched for the Yankees. I worked the front desk at the hotel they stayed in L.A. for the 81 world series. I also met his brother Keith. George was one of those rare individuals that had such a kind and warm heart you just loved being around him. Although we lost touch I do remember meeting his lovely wife Kay but not the children. When we age we lose folks we have come to know. This one hits me hard. i will never forget George. He took me into locker rooms, player areas, on the field at Candlestick with my nephews, held my daughter when she was an infant. Many, many condolences to Kay and the entire Frazier family. George was an absolute gem. RIP my friend. Paul

I met him on a flight and he was so kind to invite our family to watch a Rockies game with him for a bit. He even allowed my kids to throw out the snacks during the game. My children have never forgotten that moment and we are all grateful to have spent time with such a humble, caring person that he was. He mentioned how proud he was of his family as well. May he rest in peace.
