MELROSE - Karen G. Lohnes, 77, of Melrose, passed away suddenly Tuesday, April 2, 2025, at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Karen was born in Troy, N.Y., of the late John Dahl and Emilie (Webster) Dahl. She was predeceased by her brother-in-law, John Lohnes (Andrea).
Karen was a talented and creative seamstress, in addition to her sewing skills, she was also very skilled at knitting and created many treasured keepsakes for family and cherished friends. However, her greatest passion in life was spending time raising her two youngest children.
Karen was an avid member of 4H in her younger years and continued to relay fond memories of her time in 4H many years later. She is a graduate of SUNY Cobleskill and retired as a dietary technician and food manager after 35 years in the field, holding various positions throughout the years.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Stephen Lohnes; three sons, Stephen Lohnes Jr. (Susan), Christopher M. Lohnes (Sabrina), Evan J.P. Lohnes; daughter, Evangeline E.L. Lohnes; two brothers, John Dahl (Patricia), Eric Dahl (Mary); three brothers-in-law, Paul Lohnes (Elizabeth), David Lohnes, Joseph Lohnes; and one sister-in-law, Rebecca Lohnes; four grandchildren, Ayden Lohnes, Kahne Lohnes, Sarah Mosher, and Jessica Pimental; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral, Tuesday, 10:00 a.m., at Wm. J. Rockefeller Funeral Home Inc., 165 Columbia Tpk., Rensselaer. Interment will be in Gerald BH Solomon Cemetery, immediately following the funeral.
Friends may call Monday, from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., in the funeral home.
