Alma Marr Obituary

Alma Lee Marr

March 29, 1930 - July 27, 2025

Alma Lee Marr, aged 95, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025. She was a resident of Council Bluffs, IA, and attended Queen of Apostles/Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Alma was laid to rest in St. Joseph Cemetery on Monday, August 4, 2025, after a private family gathering and Rosary.

Alma was born to Harry LeRoy Duffy and Amy Lucille (Piatt) Duffy on March 29, 1930, in Pacific Junction, IA. She had two siblings, Norman Fay "Buzz" Duffy and Lois Virginia Duffy, all of whom preceded her in death.

Her family moved to Glenwood, IA, in 1945. Alma graduated from Glenwood High School in 1949. She worked as a secretary and telephone operator at the Glenwood State School after graduation. She moved to Modesto, CA, with her immediate family in 1953, where she worked as a secretary in the insurance industry.

Alma returned to Omaha, NE, where she married her husband and former classmate, Donald F. Marr, on August 21, 1954. They were married for 57 years and had four children. Donald and their eldest daughter, Deborah Lee Marr, also preceded her in death.

Surviving children include son Donald James (Kari) Marr, daughter Dianne Louise (Scott) Gubbels, and son Daniel Joseph Marr, all of Omaha, NE. Grandchildren include Sean, Morgan, Colin, and Madeline Marr, and Logan Gubbels, also of Omaha, NE. Alma had one great-grandchild and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Alma's greatest love was her children. She enjoyed everything about being a mom. She was our first teacher, nursed all our wounds, and made the very best cookies. She was an excellent cook and loved babies, dogs, and nature. She liked crafts, gardening, sewing, and had several collections. Alma was known for her contagious laughter and Hollywood smile. She will remain forever in our hearts and memories.

I´m Lori Gibbs, Alma Marr´s niece. My mother is Lois Duffy her Sister. I just would like my Cousins and their Children to know how much I loved their mother. She was a wonderful Aunt and there are many, many memories of good times that we had. A funny one was when we were getting ready to go to mass, when we were children and if we couldn´t find a doily for our head she would pin a Kleenex on our heads. We would all laugh.
She was always laughing, and having a good time. I will remember her little voice that was so cute. I´ll miss her dearly.

Don, Dianne, Dan and families. My heart is so broken for all of you hearing that your sweet mom has passed away to Heaven. She was an amazing Aunt and I loved her so very much. I can hear her voice and her contagious laugh in my mind. She will always watch over all of you from Heaven above. Rest in peace Aunt Alma. I love you

I'm so sorry to learn of Amy's death. She was my mother's cousin. My mom, Mary Eledge Rouse, was born to Minnie Piatt and Grover Eledge. I hope those wonderful memories of Alma bring you comfort.
