Albert Warden Obituary

Albert Earl Warden

Nov 25, 1946 ~ Jul 5, 2025

Albert Earl Warden, 78, passed away on July 5, 2025. Al was born on November 25, 1946, to Albert Eugene and Cleone Warden in Ogden, Utah and was the first of their four boys. He grew up in Roy and Ogden with his three younger brothers: Jon, Jeff, and Kirk.

He attended Weber High School where he excelled in basketball, baseball, and football.

He later attended Utah State University on a baseball scholarship. Before graduating, he was drafted by the US Army and did a tour in Vietnam. Al was a member of the 1st Air Calvary Division and was recognized for his bravery and skill on the battlefield with multiple awards and decorations including the Bronze Star.

He dedicated over 30 years of his life to the Department of Veteran Affairs. He was incredibly dedicated to his work and loved helping fellow veterans. He received many awards for his work and continued to help family and friends with their claims well into his retirement.

Al adopted his first son, Brian, from his first marriage. Al then married the love of his life, Connie Kay (Hadley), on January 25, 1981. Together, they had three children, Courtney, Sara, and Darick. He was a dedicated father and spent countless hours showing his kids how to fix things, playing sports, or just chatting about life. He had seven grandchildren including six grandsons and one princess, all of which he was very proud of.

Al lived his life with integrity. He was empathetic, kind, incredibly intelligent, and humble. He was a capable handyman and enjoyed working on his homes and yard. He also loved being outdoors, collecting coins, and mastering his swing on the golf course.

Al is survived by his wife, Connie; his son, Darick (Nicole); and his seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sara; sons, Brian and Courtney (MaryBeth); his parents; and brothers, Jon (Rita) and Kirk.

I knew Al as a co-worker for many years. Al always shared a smile and had a positive attitude.

Al was a great guy, a great co-worker for many years. I remember the day he started work at the VA's regional office in the 70's. Not only was Al a strong advocate for veterans and their families, but for his co-workers as well, many of whom he trained and supervised. Al always had a good word about almost everyone; he could see the good in people. He was as dependable as they come. We're saddened to learn of his passing. The world has really lost a good one. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Connie and his family. May the wonderful memories of Al fill their hearts and souls (and ours) until we see each other again. Dave and Kay Phillips
