Ed Dresel Obituary

Ed Dresel

1932-2025/In Loving Memory

Cottonwood Heights, UT-Joseph Edward Dresel aka Ed Dresel passed away peacefully at 92 years old on April 20, 2025 in his home surrounded by his loving wife and family. Ed was born on October 25, 1932 in Weirton, West Virginia to Margaret Foley and Joseph Dresel. He grew up in a small steel town enjoying an adventurous childhood with his cousins (The Wrights) until he joined the Navy at 19yrs old and served as an Operating Room Tech during the Korean War. After the war, Ed started a family and pursued a career in the steel industry while also achieving a Doctorate in Business Administration. He worked for National Steel as an executive for many years until he decided to move his family out west to the mountains of Utah. Ed then became CFO for Beauty For All Seasons and then post-retirement, worked at Sears and Burlington helping men select clothes until he was 87 years old.

Ed was a proud American, Veteran, Catholic, Husband, Dad and Granddad. He was kind and loving but tough when needed. He was brave and confident during the most difficult of times, and he was smart and career driven from an early age making sure his family didn't want for much. He lived in 10 locations throughout his extensive life and we're certain he was a great neighbor at each. He loved dogs and gave 8 of them good homes. He loved his cars having owned 3 Mustangs and a Jaguar. He loved a good story, he loved to laugh, he loved making his "Angel" laugh, he loved any and every western, he loved his mountain home, he loved a good steak, he loved an occasional fine scotch, and he loved traveling with and being around family making memories and having adventures whenever he could...He loved a lot!

Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 49 yrs and "Angel" Anna Dresel; and his three children Edward Dresel and his wife Kathy, Diana Garrett, and Steve Dresel. Ed had 6 grandchildren Jared, Jacob, Jessica, Jordan Marie, Michael, Tanya and 6 great grandchildren. Whether you were a family member, coworker, neighbor or friend, if you knew Ed you probably enjoyed being around him and he probably treated you like family...that was his way. He brightened every room the same way he brightened our lives and his presence will be forever missed. We will be having a Funeral Mass for Ed Dresel on Saturday, July 26th at St. Vincent de Paul Parish on 1375 Spring Lane, Salt Lake City, UT 84117 at 11:00am. If you knew him or our family, please join us in saying goodbye and celebrating our very special Ed.

Also, flowers are lovely but in lieu of please donate to St. Vincent de Paul or simply be kind to a stranger sometime...He would have liked that.
