Kirstin Stoltz Obituary

Fairbanks resident Kirstin D. Stoltz, 43, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family, on Monday, July 13, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. A memorial service will be at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Carlson Center in Fairbanks. A reception will follow at the center. Kirstin was born June 30, 1966 in Fairbanks. She graduated from West Valley High School in Fairbanks in 1984. She spent a year abroad in New Zealand as an American Field Service Exchange Student. She went on to attend the University of Alaska Fairbanks. In 1987 she married Michael J. Stoltz and moved to Oregon to attend George Fox University in Newberg. After earning her bachelor's degree in human resource management, she and Mike moved back to Fairbanks, where she managed their dental practice. She had a passion for music and was a member of the Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra and the Arctic Chamber Orchestra, where she played the string bass. She passed on her love of music and the arts to her children. An active mother and community volunteer, she home-schooled her children, volunteered for many local community services, including her enduring dedication to Love INC, where she served on the board. She enjoyed vacationing with her family in New Zealand and Prince William Sound. Kirstin loved to travel and see new places and meet the people on their own terms. All who knew Kirstin would agree that she had an elegant and classy style all her own. Kirstin was loved by many and was a blessing to her family and friends. She was generous and kind and her love for the Lord radiated to all that knew her. She is survived by her beloved husband, Dr. Michael J. Stoltz; children, Aubrea and Parker Stoltz; parents, Earl and Carol Secor; brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Kris Secor; sister and brother-in-law, Karla and Craig O'Donohugh; many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. In addition to her biological family, she is survived by her family in New Zealand, including Kiwi parents, Paul and Sandy Harrop; brothers, Ben, Matt, Steve and Joe; sister, Esther; and their respective spouses. Kirstin and her family would like to express a sincere thank you to all the doctors, nurses and staff in Fairbanks who participated in the excellent care she received. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Love INC, or The Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra.

Over the years I have been blessed by Kirstin volunteerism, I met her during a distribution of school supplies by Love, Inc. at Joel's Place when we were still in Badger Hall, we worked on that project together for several years. Parker then began skateboarding at Joel's Place and Stoltz Dental became one of our corporate sponsors. I will miss her! Our prayers are with you!

Heard the passing of Kirstin today through a friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. She was a wonderful mentor as a Christian, and as a family transitioning into Alaska from CA. Kirstin was one of the people that continually reached out to us at Bethel Church, and just kept the fire going in our hearts. Enjoyed the time God allowed us to have with her, and watching the family grow. Thankful for the legacy you've lived through all of this, and even before. The Lord truly reigns in your lives. She will be missed, and remembered.

With love and prayers,
