Kathleen Rea Harris

Kathleen Rea Harris, age 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 16, 2015. Beloved wife of the late James T.; loving mother of Kathleen (William) Barnes and Carol (Michael) Brzuszkiewicz; dearest Nana of Julia (Seth) Engler, Elizabeth Barnes, Michelle (Andrew) Martin, Kristen Brzuszkiewicz and William Barnes. Kaye was the daughter of James and Mary (Donovan) Rea and "Sis" to seven brothers and sisters: Mary, Anne, Oliver, Bernard, James, Lawrence and Richard, all of whom preceded her in death. Kaye was a 1944 graduate of St. Casimir's Catholic High School in Chicago. She went to work in Travel/Transportation for the post WWII Atomic Energy Commission. Later she worked for St. Paul Federal Savings and Loan in sales. A Glen Ellyn resident for 58 years, Kaye was active as a volunteer serving as president of PTA, Lilac Garden Club and the popular Dinner/Dance club as well as a Girl Scout Troop Leader. She participated in several bridge groups and loved gardening and travel. Memorial Visitation will be Friday, February 20, 2015 4 pm to 8 pm at Leonard Memorial Funeral Home 565 Duane St. Glen Ellyn, IL 60137. Memorial Mass, Saturday, February 21, 2015 10 am at St. Petronille Catholic Church 420 Glenwood Glen Ellyn, IL 60137. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 6001 W. 111th St., Alsip, IL 60803. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Greater Chicago Chapter 8430 Bryn Mawr Suite 800 Chicago, Illinois 60631 would be appreciated.
