Someone should erect a monument at D.I.P. and Hannon Rd. honoring Oliver as the most respected well loved, humanitarians and wonderful family man to have come from Hannon Rd. He was all of the above and much more. You are an example of what all mankind should be.

Oliver Washington III, owner of Shore Acres Plant Farm Inc., died Saturday June 25, 2016 at Springhill Memorial hospital. He was 63. The lifelong Mobilian also known as "Big Oliver" and "Ollie." He was a member of St. Rosa Lima Catholic Church.He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Cleo Washington, Jr.; and brother, Reginald Washington. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marie D. Washington, of Mobile; children, Oliver (Leah) Washington, IV, Kala (Darrell) McCollum and Marissa (Marlon) Moore, all of Mobile; siblings, Vivian (John) Bacot, Feron Washington, all of Mobile and Sister Rita Washington, SFCC, of Montgomery, AL; grandchildren, Madison and expected Aidan McCollum, Nadia and Malia Moore, and Noelle Washington; and a host of other relatives, nieces, nephews and many loving and devoted friends. The Rosary will be held Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church 1621 Boykin Boulevard at 5:30 p.m. with viewing following from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 1, 2016 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church at 10:00am. Interment will be in Casher Cemetery. The family will accept flowers, or donations to Alabama Kidney Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 12505, Birmingham, AL 35202.
