Not sure what to say?

Terri and I send our condolences to Corky and Marty, and the entire family . We remember Corky's Mom as a wonderful woman.

RIP

A very interesting life and clearly a wonderful woman and matriarch. Her life lessons will live on in your hearts and how you continue to live your lives. Deepest sympathy is extended to the family, including Brooke and Sally. May the expressions and presence of friends and family, and the memories you hold dear, console you and give you peace.

Dear Brooke and Sally - It is with deep sadness to learn of Ms. Fischer's passing - she will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to visit with her and over time form a treasured friendship.
My deepest sympathy is extended to you and all of Ms. Fischer's family.

Barbara's Obituary

Barbara Meserole Fischer

or Meserole-Fischer, B.

Wilmington, N.C.--- Barbara Ann Thompson Meserole Fischer, 96, of Wilmington, died peacefully after a long illness on Friday, February 22, in her room at The Commons at Brightmore.

Barbara was born on April 9, 1922, in New Rochelle, N.Y., to Joseph and Marie (Boylan) Thompson. Graduating from The Ursuline School in 1940, she attended Katharine Gibbs School in New York City before marrying Lieutenant Clinton V. Meserole Jr., U.S. Army, of Englewood, N.J. in 1942. Following World War II, they settled in Englewood, raised five children, and spent most summers at Point O’ Woods, N.Y. In Englewood, Barbara was an officer in both The Junior League and The Garden Club.

After Clint Meserole’s death in 1974, she married Charles D. Fischer in 1978 and moved to Bay Head, N.J., where her children and grandchildren were frequent guests. In Bay Head, she was an active member of the Seaweeders Garden Club and the Bay Head Yacht Club and a communicant at Sacred Heart Church. Charlie Fischer died in 1996.

She is survived by all her children: Corky (Marty), Brooke (Sally), Mike, Bambi Siegfried (Jay), and Hilary Meserole. She also leaves six grandchildren, Leisle Meserole Bartley (William), Joe Meserole (Dawn), Ed Meserole, Win Siegfried (Jada), Clint Siegfried (Kaitlin), and Bess Siegfried Yount (Austin); and five great-grandchildren Steijha Meserole, Dakota and Carson Bartley, Denver Yount, and Worth Siegfried.

Also surviving her are a sister, Colette Evert; three stepchildren, Chuck Fischer, Martha Palmer, Carol Hall and their families; and many nieces, nephews and godchildren. Family members who died before her include her parents, sisters Merrill Sinnott, Tomme Bergman, Joan Galbraith, and Angela Callaghan, and brothers Paul, Joe, Phil, and George Thompson.

All of her family and friends will miss her wink, her unerring taste, her parties (large and small), her companionship on and off the tennis court, and a unique vocabulary of charming Barbara-isms. Burial at Brookside Cemetery in Englewood, N.J. will be private. Donations in the name of Barbara Fischer can be made to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation in Wilmington, NC (lcfh.org).
