Garret Moses Obituary

Garret Moses 1922 - 2011 BENNINGTON, VT Garret Moses, 89, a resident of the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, died on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, of heart failure at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, N.Y. Mr. Moses lived in Boston, Massachusetts and then in New London, N.H., for many years prior to moving to Bennington. He was born in Washington, DC on Jan. 22, 1922, the second son of Brig. Gen. (USArmy, ret.) Raymond George Moses and his wife, Marjorie Bush Moses. He traveled extensively with his family, living in the United States and Europe, during his father's military career. He was a World War II veteran, attaining the rank of Captain in the Army. He graduated with a B.S. degree from Babson College in 1949. Mr. Moses was for many years with Boston Mutual Insurance Company. He married the former Judith Kiff in 1969; she predeceased him in 1995. His brother, Col. John Wills Moses of Spartanburg, S.C., predeceased him as well in 2005. He is survived by a sister-in-law, Virginia Manning Moses, two nieces, Virginia Manning Moses and Marjorie Moses Schwab, and a nephew, John Wills Moses, Jr. and his wife Heather. He is also survived by four great-neices and two great-nephews. MEMORIAL NOTICE: A memorial service for Mr. Moses will be held in the All Faiths Chapel of the Vermont Veterans Home on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, at 11 a.m. The burial will take place in the Vermont Veterans Cemetery in Randolph, VT, on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, at 1 p.m. Military honors will be offered. Arrangements have been entrusted to the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME 628 Main Street in Bennington, VT 05201.

It was an honor to care for Garret at the Vermont Veterans Home. Garret had a great sense of humor. He will be missed. God bless.
