Just wanted you to know that Chuck was so helpful to me in the early days of building the Faculty of Management [now The Haskayne School of Business]. And then he was instrumental in helping us get the DDRC Foundation off the ground.
He was a real gentleman and builder in the community in so many ways.
Please accept my deepest sympathies.

Your Father,Grandfather was a true gentleman. A wonderful man who lead a wonderful life both with the business community and his family. We will always think of his joyful summers at Premier Lake, sitting on the deck of Goat watching the sunsets. We are sorry we cannot be with you to celebrate and honor his life on Nov 11th. Charles Needham Mawer served with distinction aboard HMCS Haida and during his brief time in Haida was commended for "good service in action with enemy destroyers, for leadership, resolution and skill" as well as for "outstanding courage, skill and devotion to duty". We have lost a true Canadian hero and one that will not soon be forgotten.

It was a great priviledge and pleasure to have known Chuck. I know that he is deeply missed by the Naval and Military communities.

Chuck supported me in so many of my endeavours starting with my entry into the RCN in 1953.
It made me very happy to eventually be able to take him to the Wardroom for lunch here in Victoria on his visit here which, sadly, was without Nibs. My condolences to you all - it was a joy to know them both for so many years.

I learned many of the business values I hold today from Chuck. I fondly remember him saying "Tom, its OK to make a mistake and admit it right away, but one thing I won't tolerate is if you try to blame someone else or cover it up!"
Please accept my deepest condolences.

Chuck was an amazing person who contributed so much to so many! He made a valuable contribution to the board of the Naval Museum and all of his many Navy friends will sadly miss him. We send our sincere sympathy to all his family.
