Willodean Wiswell Willodean Wiswell (75) was born in Cassville Missouri on October 11, 1934 and passed away with her family by her side on August 30, at Los Alamitos Medical Center. She was a long time member of local and national miniature organizations. Willodean was also a member of the Red Hat Society. The City of Cerritos awarded her with several proclamations for outstanding service since they moved to the community in 1968. She was credited for the Let Freedom Ring Independence Day Celebration, which has become a cherished patriotic tradition for the community. She was also active in the Cerritos Homeowners Association, Artesia-Cerritos Woman's Club and the Cerritos Republican Club. Willie served as a member of the Regional Park Committee that helped guide the planning of area parks. She participated in the idea of establishing the Cerritos Volunteers on Patrol. The VOP now provide 13,000 hours of valuable safety service every year to the community. Willie served as Arts Ambassador at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts since the theater's opening night that featured Frank Sinatra in 1993. She will be remembered for her creativity, kindness, adventure, and humor. She will be missed by her loving family, friends, and anyone who was fortunate enough to have her in their lives. It is the families request that there be no funeral or memorial. Cards, calls and flowers - although a nice and sincere gesture - are also not requested.
