Katia Baum Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 15 to Nov. 16, 2009.
BAUM, Katia (nee Gitla Kuporos) Our beautiful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Katia Baum (Gitla Kuporos) peacefully, quietly, and in dignity passed away early Saturday morning November 14, 2009, at the age of eighty-eight years, forever young, surrounded by the love of her family. She will be sadly missed by all her friends and family, those who helped her and those whom she helped, and all who had the good fortune to know her for the proud, happy, and loving person she was. In her earlier years, she had always been very active in charities, Hadassah, and a Russian group with whom she shared many parties and happy occasions. Her beauty was known to all, inside and out. Her smile could light up the world. A heart of gold. Beloved wife of Boris Baum for sixty-eight wonderful years, mother and mother-in-law of Liza, Rose, Rita and Gary, beloved grandmother of Bonnie (Sheldon Wisener), Michael, Barbara (Ines Luis), Howie (Stella), Joey, Maury (Amy), Pamela (Reuven Sharon), and Lorne, very much adored great-grandmother of Nikki, Dylan, Sydney, Sophia, Kyla, Jack, Justin, Jesse, Alexander, and Mikha. Since the arrival of Katia and Boris in 1952 with three little girls from Israel, and their move to St. Urbain Street and then further west to a very comfortable life, they always provided all life's pleasures to the family and made sure everyone was taken care of. Funeral service from Paperman and Sons, 3888 Jean Talon West on Monday, November 16, at 1 p.m. Burial at the Chelmer Society Section, Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Duverney. Shiva to be announced. Donations in her memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
