Salvatore J. Indiviglia

1919 - 2018

INDIVIGLIA - Salvatore J., CDR (USNR-Ret), Franklin Square, NY, on May 28, 2018. Born November 16, 1919 and raised in East Harlem, NY. Sal graduated Leonardo Da Vinci Art School, School of Industrial Arts and Pratt Institute. Served with the U.S. 5th Army during World War II as an interpreter in Italy. Following the war, Sal worked as a Commercial Art Director for various studios in NYC and was an active member of the American Watercolor Society and the Salmagundi Club. He received 160 art awards for his realistic and abstract paintings. Following his calling for Service, in 1962 Sal received a direct commission as a U.S Naval Reserve Officer and served as a Navy Combat Artist. Sal's artwork of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps Combat Operations in South Vietnam resides in the Smithsonian Institute. CDR Indiviglia also served as a US Naval Academy Information Officer for twenty-nine years and was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal for his outstanding service. CDR Indiviglia also served as Commander of American Legion Post 1014. A sixty-eight year resident of Franklin Square, Sal is survived by his daughter, Dianne Indiviglia, of Franklin Square, NY, son, Larry Indiviglia (CDR USNR (Ret) USNA Class of '77) of San Diego, CA, two loving grandchildren; Joseph Indivi-glia (wife, Alyson) and Lauren Torres (husband, Benito) and daughter-in-law, Carol Michels He was pre-deceased by his wife of thirty-nine years, Quinta (De Simone) Indiviglia, his daughter, Barbara, his son, Joseph, his sister, Theresa, and his twenty-year companion, Helen Boerum. The family will receive friends at the Krauss Funeral Home, Inc., Franklin Square. A Mass will be celebrated at St. Catherine of Sienna, in Franklin Square, with burial at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, NY.
