John Glenn Obituary

GLENN, JOHN T., 56 - of Beesley's Point and formerly of Ocean City went missing at sea on January 12, 2007. He is one with the ocean and forever fishing. John was raised in Ocean City by his late parents, Morris and Harriet Glenn, owners of Glenn Toy's on the Ocean City Boardwalk for 35 years. John graduated from Ocean City High School in 1970 and joined the Ocean City Fire Department in February 1977. He was a fisherman, fireman and friend to all. He could be seen fishing, eeling, crabbing and clamming on the local waterways, often with his Black Lab Natalie, and always shared his catch with family, friends, colleagues and neighbors. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Jane Miller Glenn, his daughter Melissa Glenn and his step-children David Miller of Ocean City, Kristie Fenton & her husband Joe of Palermo and Marcia Shallcross and her husband Tom of Beesley's Point. He is sadly missed by his grandchildren who will always remember swimming in the pool and going to the Boardwalk with PopPop and especially eating "PopPop's Special Chicken" (fish): Ali and Scott Miller, Nicholl and Abbey Fenton, and Doug & Bobby Shallcross. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 3rd at 11am at Saint Peter's United Methodist Church, 8th Street and Central Avenue, Ocean City. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Ocean City Humane Society - 1 Shelter Road Ocean City, NJ 08226 or OCFD - FMBA Local 27 - P.O. Box 593, Ocean City, NJ 08226.
