Sis. Gooding was always a faithful encourager. I loved when she got up to "exhort" or "give a testimony" and it turned into a whole sermon. Her testimony of serving God since her childhood was a source of encouragement in my own walk. Always faithfully playing the organ for services that were occasionally almost entirely worship, I now realize she no doubt wanted to be worshipping freely as well, but I don't remember her ever taking a break. She and Pastor Gooding were such a good team; she was strength equal to his for the work of God they established. They taught us how to dig into the word, trust God, move in the Spirit, be sensitive to His leading, and the importance of not accepting the world's way of thinking and acting. I am deeply grateful for Sis. Gooding's life and example.

We were privileged to spend 29 years in church with Irene, first as our Pastor's wife and a true woman of character, an example of the believer. We loved her so much and she will be surely missed. We are sad for John, Darlene, Faith, Greg, Cheri, and their families. As Pastor John says, we didn't lose her, we know where she is, but as days go on, their loss will be felt, and tears may come. We will pray. She's with her Savior, Bob, & Bobby,, and so many that have gone on before.

From the day we entered the doors of
Apponaug Pent. Church, we were treated like family. That's who the GOODINGS were.
I am alumni of Apponaug boot camp. Best place for a new christian to begin his/her new life with the Lord.

A great lady has passed on to be with the Lord. A wonderful reunion with Pastor Gooding and Bobby. We will miss you that is for sure. Thank you for all the great times you and Pastor gave to Judy and I over the years we attended Apponaug Pentecostal Church. There surely is "Shouting on the Streets of Glory as a great saint has come home". Sorry we can't make it to the wake or funeral as I am tied up with schedule of classes at my business and those can't be cancelled. My condolences to all the family. Love Tim and Judy
