Vagadu Varda Obituary
4/24/1946 - 2/7/2014
Vagadu was born in San Francisco in 1946. Her parents were the artists Jean Varda and Virginia Goldstein. She grew up in San Francisco and Sausalito, graduating from Tamalpais H.S. in '64 and S. F. State (B.A. biology.) She worked many years for State Parks in Sacramento, and Caltrans in San Diego. Her passions were art, design and Nature. She also loved the piano, tennis, swimming, and dancing. She died at her home in San Diego after a lengthy illness. Vagadu is survived by daughter Joui Turandot, and partner Barbara Whyte. There will be a gathering of family and friends in Sausalito April 12th at at 4 PM. Please call 415-361-6991 for further information.

I knew and greatly admired Vagadu's father Jean Varda in Sausalito, California during the 1960s and 70s. In my house in Hawaii I still have a beautiful collage by J.V. that has been a focus of love and admiration for him and his work all these years. He often mentioned Vagadu lovingly, so I feel that I have known her. Aloha from Hawaii,Vagadu, with love from your father's friend Sandol Stoddard
