Joseph Gamache Obituary

LAKEVILLE — Joseph Peter "Pete" Gamache, age 92 years of Lakeville, MA died Monday, August 4, 2008 at Island Terrace Nursing Home after a long illness. He was the husband of the late Bertha (Carroll) Gamache.

Born Monday, January 10, 1916 in Middleboro he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Dufour) Gamache.

Pete was a 1934 graduate of Middleboro High School and has been a long time resident of Lakeville. He was a WW II Army Veteran serving in Africa and Italy as a medical technician. He worked for over 20 years at the former Plymouth Shoe Company in Middleboro and was Co-Owner of Lakeville Recreation and the former Four Quarters Restaurant. He was Communicant of Sts. Martha and Mary Church in Lakeville, an avid Bowler and loved woodworking and playing cribbage.

He is survived by a daughter Carol A. Vidal and her husband Paul E. of Westport; a son Peter J. Gamache and his wife Nancy of Lakeville; 5 grandchildren Veronica Vidal Praeger of Watertown, Andrew V. Vidal of Fall River, Brandy Gamache of Fall River, Sean Gamache of Lakeville and Teagan Gamache of Lakeville; a great-granddaughter; a brother Arthur Gamache of Middleboro; two sister-in-laws Eleanor Gamache of Lakeville and Jacqueline Gamache of Middleboro. He was also the brother of the late Leo, Paul, Jules and George Gamache, Josephine Forcier, Ernestine Stuart and Anna Cote.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday at 10:00 AM in Sts. Martha and Mary Church, Bedford St. Lakeville, MA. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Middleboro. Visitation will take place on Friday, 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 280 Bedford St. (Rt. 18) Lakeville, MA.
