Anne Vieira

Anne (Furtado) Vieira, 88, passed away Monday, July 30, 2012 at Newport Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Alfred A. Vieira. Born in Jamestown, she was a daughter of the late Frank S. and Anna (DeRosa) Furtado. She was a lifelong resident of Jamestown. Mrs. Vieira was an Administrative Assistant at the Naval Training Station in Newport and at the URI Department of Engineering before retiring. She was a former Brownie and Cub Scout Leader, a member of the Wednesday Women's Club, an assistant librarian at the Jamestown Library, and was a communicant of St. Mark Church. She is survived by her loving children, Louise Vieira Weaver of South Kingstown, Katherine M. Bennett and her husband Rod of Jamestown, and Alfred A. Vieira and his wife Karen of South Kingstown; cherished grandmother of three; great grandmother of one great granddaughter; caring sister of Mary Bakios of Jamestown and the late Frank, John and Rosalie Furtado. Her funeral will be held Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 9am from the FAGAN-QUINN Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Road, North Kingstown with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Mark Church, 60 Narragansett Avenue, Jamestown. Burial will follow in St. Mark Cemetery. Visitation Friday 5-7pm. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to Jamestown E.M.S. or Meals on Wheels would be appreciated.
