RITCHIE, Diana Maxine (nee Haas)
Died peacefully after a short illness in
Framfield, East Sussex, England, on
March 7, 2016. Daughter of the late
Max and Marian Haas. Sister of
Suzanne Stohn, Babs Morrice,
Stephanie Boswell and the late Kate
Stone. She is survived by her
daughter, Portia Ritchie; her son,
Adam Shoemaker; and her
grandchildren, Lydia Ritchie, Allanah
Ritchie, Kandi Ritchie-Stewart, Rianna
Shoemaker and Jakob Shoemaker
She was predeceased by her
husband, Paul Ritchie.
Born in Toronto in 1933, she and her
sisters all attended The Bishop
Strachan School. She furthered her
education at Middlebury College and
at the University of Toronto. After
living in Ibiza, Spain during the 1960s
she and her husband moved to
London. She lived in England for
more than forty years, including over
a decade when she was
Headmistress of Bassett House
School in North Kensington, London
She adored her summers spent in
Pointe-au-Baril, Ontario with her
family and many friends. She will be
sorely missed by loved ones in
Canada, the United Kingdom and
Australia and by those who were so
close to her in East Sussex, where
she lived over the past twenty years.
A memorial service will be held at St
Thomas à Becket Anglican Church,
Framfield, East Sussex, England at
2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 19,
2016. In lieu of flowers, donations
would be gratefully accepted
