Description
It’s never easy to lose a loved one – particularly during this time of uncertainty – and we remain committed to caring for our families compassionately and safely. In light of the recent Coronavirus outbreak, we have taken many measures to help the families we serve. While keeping our funeral homes safe and clean is important, it is equally important to find creative solutions for families who cannot meet with us in person. If you have experienced the unfortunate loss of a loved one and are not comfortable meeting in person, we offer a variety of options for completing all the necessary arrangements “virtually” from online planning and purchasing tools, to video conferences and screen sharing, to simple phone calls. We can even complete the necessary paperwork using electronic signatures.

I attended with a family of the deceased today. A time was scheduled for viewing of the body by family. The doors were locked. We had to ring twice for them to let us in. They had us sit in the lobby area and were 30 minutes late on letting us view the body. NO explanation for lateness nor apology. No staff available to console attendees. The family is already going through stress. Why antagonize them more with lateness and no support. A petty fly kept landing on the body and coffin. Not good.

This is the worst funeral provider I've ever seen. They changed the location of the service the night before the funeral, no public viewing was had prior to the funeral due to the delay in preparing the body that they had for almost 2 weeks. The person was not recognizable due to excessive swelling, skin was not smooth, she was only 23 and she looked 60. They changed the price the night before the funeral and no receipt was given and they are not returning calls. I'm going to report them to the state Charged for an extra wide casket and was given a standard casket

I have battled with how to write this review. The staff here are kind and compassionate people. Our Mothers remains were handled with compassion. However her immediate family was not. So many small mistakes were made from the start. I must add Mom prepaid for all serves. SB also had a full week to prepare for her funeral. 1. Moms death announcement ran the day after her funeral. She was loved by many and a month later ppl are still upset they couldn't Attend it. 2. Moms age was listed off by 3 years. Everywhere. SB used the age she was when she prepaid 3 years ago. Keep in mind SB has her birthday on documents. 3. We were told the Limousines seat 10 So we had family members show up to ride in them. Limousine seats 8 and that includes the driver. 5. Mom gave strict orders that only her children and grandchildren could view her remains. It was in her contract with SB. I also reiterated that to SB staff. So imagine my shock when someone called to tell me how good she looked. To confirm this I asked the person what was Mom wearing. The person replied she had on the outfit in the picture. We had a very large picture of mom displayed at her service. She described it right, she viewed her on the day the family arrived to view her. 6. My daughter was tossed pages ripped out of the guest book. Ripped out pages. We would provided SB with a guest book had we known and we thought it was customary to be given that book. 7. Mom passed away in our home and we bought an out fit for her to wear during the transport from Charlotte to Portsmouth. We requested that we get that back. These are small issues that could have been avoided had more intimate attention been paid to this service. It changed the experience for her family and for her many friends. The apologies we received lacked true sincerity. We will never forget this.

We had 2 deaths on the same day, my father and my husband's mother. Mr. Bullock was kind and patient with me, as I'm sure I was pretty scattered. I chose cremation for both. We will be arranging our final things through Steele Bullock so our daughter won't have to worry when the time comes.

Where do I begin! My experience with Steele-Bullock was simply a pleasure! Although, my grandfather had just passed away and it was very unexpected. They took their time with my family & I. They guided us through the process with care and patience. Steele-Bullock was a heaven sent and I will forever be grateful to you all. Death is always hard to go through, trust Steele-Bullock with your love ones! I assure you, that you will not be disappointed. Thank you all again!
