I recently lost my grandfather. My grandmother chose to use this funeral home because they have a reputation with people her age for being "the nicest." She must have meant with the nicest people- not the nicest facilities. Everyone was so kind... However, I would think that if they charge $8200 per funeral they could replace the carpet that is so worn that I thought it may be the exact same carpet that was there when my other Grandpa died 30 years ago. Or perhaps they might have something better than Wal-mart brand soap in the restroom.... Also, we had to keep finding an attendant to get small bottles of water for my grandmother and crippled uncle. I was not the only person who thought that it should be available in the "coffee room."

I would give it a 5 but I later found out they lied while I was on the phone with my mom and siblings about a active duty squad for my father's funeral. They said fort Leonard Wood refused as a did fort Knox. To find out they never called fort Leonard Wood . They went against my father wishes and my promise to him. And when I call them about it all they do is side step . Hell of of way to treat a vet.

The most famous funeral home in town, Hughey's helped to handle one of my relative's deaths. This place is jam packed with history, including it being the former home of one of Illinois' founding fathers: Zadok Casey. Yes, the middle school was named after him. He's very famous. This is one of the nicest historical places in town, and a lovely place to arrange a funeral. Costs are somewhat low and the people are very reasoning.

The workers here are amazing! I had to switch funeral services to Hughey's because I was intially suggested a different place. It was horrible. They were so rude and uncaring, so I went to Hughey's. What a difference. The owner was so sensitive and it was obvious this sort of caring for people's suffering is his passion. He made the whole process a lot easier, especially when I was at the worst place in life. It was only a tiny bit more expensive, but I would have paid anything to be treated like that, in that situation. I seriously can not say enough good about this place. If someone you love has passed recently, I would go here first. You'll see why. In case someone is interested, it was $2000 for cremation, a service, thank you card, guest book, etc. He also let us pay half, and the rest in small payments.

I can't say enough thanks to Hughey's . Don and staff , you are over the top. From the time I walked in to the office, the tribute wall, the graveside service , making mom look so nice and all communication between us was as good as I could ever ask for.
