I have waited a few weeks to write a review so that my review isn't driven by emotion. We were very happy to find a funeral home in close proximity and could work with our need to have the funeral on the weekend to accommodate family coming from other states. The secretary seemed very caring and tried to accommodate us as much as possible. We met with the director, Les and gave him the info he needed and was told to be at the funeral home at 9:30 the morning of the funeral. We arrived at 9:30 but Les was not there. Secretary said he would be there soon. It was 50 minutes later and he finally showed up. When he finally arrived, he did not ask how he could help. We were given absolutely NO direction. We were not informed where we could find the memory pamphlets, not told about the guest book. The pastor requested a wireless microphone and was told they didnt have one but finally said they did but it wasn't used for the speaker. We made other insignificant requests and got a "no" each time. Because nobody was directing people to the guest book, not many signed. We requested that the book go to where we were having the luncheon to give opportunity for people to sign but were told the book stays with the flowers. The following day we went to pick up the flowers. After about 10 minutes Les came into the room where we were. When we asked why he wasn't at the funeral, Les' reply was, "I was helping another family." He also stated "that's what secretaries are for." In three years we have lost six immediate family members. The director at each of these funerals was accommodating, caring and PRESENT. Perhaps Les has been doing this so long he has no empathy. It's not just about picking out times and caskets. It's about celebrating and honoring people we love and cherish. Les was on time for the burial, which was the following day, and we were grateful for that. Several siblings said that was the graveside was the first time they had ever seen Les. You missed an opportunity, Les.
