Holden Cremation and Funeral Service was opened in August of 2014 by funeral director Matthew Holden. The original structure of our building was erected in 1948 by Matthew’s grandfather, Harold Brown. Harold built the building just after his discharge from the United States Air Force and opened up a service station. Over the years the building was the location of the Brown’s business up until closing in 2006. Matthew, his family and some friends completely stripped the old building down to the shell. In putting it back together, the necessary modifications were made to be used for mortuary purposes. A viewing room, preparation/embalming room, office space and hospitality area was developed. After completed, Matthew obtained the establishment license from the State of Missouri. Unlike your "store front" service companies, we are in a free standing building that is owned by us, not rented. In order to better serve families at a more personal level, Holden has developed a full service campus giving families more options than any other funeral home in the area. Today we are a fully functional funeral establishment able to provide services offered by traditional funeral homes yet for a much more affordable cost. Being operated by the company owner, our families receive the personal service they deserve during most difficult times. Matthew is a true believer in personalizing each and every service to honor loved ones wishes and family needs. We want the families who entrust us to do so not only for our low prices but for the quality of personal service they will receive.
