When Irvin W. Hankins and James B. Whittington were discharged from the military following World War II, they returned to Charlotte and opened Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service in 1946. From the very beginning, they were committed to creating a warm, special place for families to honor their loved ones. Our chapel, built in the early 1930’s has been carefully maintained to showcase beautiful stained glass, a vaulted ceiling, a fireplace, and brick walls. Even more special than our space, is the people who greet you when you enter. We know that finding the right funeral home is important, and our team treats everyone who walks through our doors like family.
