My grandma was not presented how she looked. Dr. Dierkes was very disrespectful and rude. Completely terrible during our tough time. The reputation they once had does not hold up to now.

The funeral was prepaid and they did a really nice presentation of my brother, I wasn't happy with the video on line, they had no sound so if you wasn't there you didn't get to hear the family and friends give their speech or the pastor. Hope this was fixed so others don't have this experience. I have used this funeral home with other family members and was pleased and would say they are doing the best they can with covid restrictions.

The Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home housed my mother’s funeral recently. two of the three stars goes towards the service and the building itself, which is beautiful and well kept. The third star goes to the entire Bolin-Dierkes staff except for director Ty Dierkes. During our initial meeting with Ty I introduced him to my fiancee (also a woman) to which he responded “uh, okay that’s no problem”. When explaining the purpose of having two separate calling hours, he stated that the later gathering was for our friends who he condescendingly said he hoped had jobs. Throughout the meeting he directed many of the questions to the only other man in the room even though my sister and I were to be making all of the decisions. When leaving for the procession, some of the attendees were confused because there was no escort. One of our attendees did not know to proceed through a red light with the procession so our group was split on the way to the cemetery. Luckily, some of the attendees who were familiar with the area were able to find their way and rejoin the group. Others left because they had no idea where to go. I was visibly upset about this (no escort, no instructions) but Ty did not apologize. An attendee who was saddened that she could not attend the burial called the funeral home several days later to express her dissatisfaction. She left a message for the director and Ty immediately called back. When she answered the phone he said “Did you just call here? What do you want?”. He proceeded to condescendingly ask if she had a driver’s license because it was the driver’s responsibility to know to run the red light during a procession. She asked about an escort, he asked her where the hell she was from and stated they don’t do that in Zanesville. She started to explain that she was in her 70s and he cut her off by saying “I don't care if you’re 99! It’s not my problem”. He accused her of being the one who stopped at the red light and added that it had to have been a woman who stopped because a man would never. The space in Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home is very nice but I was very disappointed and unsettled by our interactions with Ty.

Ty was also fully available to my brother and me about every detail from our first exploratory meeting to our dad’s interment, walking us through the entire process, making knowledgeable suggestions.
