Description
Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home was founded in 1914 by the Reverend Hugh B. Carpenter a well- known clergyman and has continued to be operated by the Carpenter family through five generations. The Reverend Carpenter was Pastor of the Cranston Street-Roger Williams Baptist Church of Providence and a Colonel and Chaplain of the 118th Army Corps of Engineers. While he served in France during WWI his wife Caroline operated the Funeral Home. Their son Linn M. Carpenter (1902-1976) joined the family as the second generation. His sons, Linn M. Carpenter, Jr. and H. William Carpenter were the third generation to join the firm. Linn, Jr. was killed in 1951 while serving with the U. S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. H. William Carpenter who was also serving in the Marine Corps returned to the business after the war until his retirement. Linn's son, Stephen, joined the firm in 1971, William's son, Craig joined the firm in 1983 and Stephen's step-son Chris joined the firm in 2005. In 1983 the present location in West Warwick was opened with an enlargement and major renovation completed in April 2000. As part of the funeral home the addition of the White Dove Crematory to the Facility was opened in October of 2006. The original facility was located in the capital city of Providence and closed in 1997.

My brother (and only sibling) passed away 9 months after my beloved husband. I went to Craig and he helped with the details. When the funeral director, in Texas, informed me he was planning to have my brother flown into Logan I asked Craig if he would contact David (the Texas Funeral Director) and arrange to have my brother flown into T. F. Green, which he did. Once Craig knew the time of my brother's arrival he called the house and left a message telling me that my brother would be arriving at such and such time and after that he would be "in our care." I appreciated the fact that Craig made that phone call himself and did not ask a staff member. Also, Craig arranged to bring extra chairs from the funeral home so the older attendees would have comfortable seating for the graveside service, he arranged the private viewing for I needed to view my brother's remains after he arrived, and since there was no public viewing, in Texas, Craig also arranged for the flag, full military honors (which he would have had to do anyway) since my brother was to be buried in RI, and provided the information, which was on my brother's DD214, for the bronze marker. I felt not only cared for, as I was still grieving over the home going of my beloved husband and best friend, but now had to deal with the home going of my brother. Besides feeling cared for I felt safe in the care of Craig with all of the details we had to go through.

Cannot recommend Carpenter Jenks enough. We used them for my father-in-law’s services and they were excellent in every way. We worked with Jamie as our Director and she was exceptional; extremely kind, helpful, and took on anything she could to help ease the process as much as possible. Jamie and team made a very emotionally difficult time go smoothly which was appreciated by the entire family. Thanks for everything.

During one of the worst moments of my life, I had to make so many surreal decisions. My husband left suddenly, and we had not talked about anything regarding our preferences for a funeral. Jamie was who my son and I first met, and she was perfectly calm, supportive and honest. From the first appointment and throughout the entire process, everyone cared for me like an extended family. They gave me the space and information to give my husband the funeral, that I know, he would have wanted. I cannot fully express how grateful I am for having found Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home – except saying thank you for all your help and support.

Absolute professionalism and compassion found with Carpenter-Jenks. Chris walked me through every step and option throughout my experience and I couldn’t be more thankful to have found him when I needed the support and direction to deal with the passing of a loved one at such an emotional time in my life. Chris went above and beyond my expectations to help me make cremation decisions, filing state paperwork, options to memorialize and even shipping cremated remains to out of state family as well as personally delivering to local family members on my behalf. The communication was fast, accurate, informative and confirmatory in nature. I greatly appreciate everything that Chris and Carpenter-Jenks have done for me and my family and highly recommend their services to anyone who inquired.

Many thanks to Carpenter Jencks who took care of my husband's final resting place. They were so compassionate and helpful with all the arranging, and Director Michaela made me feel like I was dealing with a close friend or relative. It made my last farewell to Danny a little more bearable. This Funeral home deserves 6 stars.******
