Description
Texarkana Funeral Home began in the days when the downtown area was the thriving heart of the city. The downtown Federal Building was only four years old and what we now know as the Perot Theater was referred to as the Saenger Theater. The year was 1939 and Howard Fuqua along with Harry L. Everett established Texarkana Funeral Home on 6th and Main Streets in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Downtown Texarkana. The staff worked hard establishing a reputation built on trust resulting in more and more families choosing Texarkana Funeral Home to guide them through their time of need. December 1966 Texarkana Funeral Home opened a new larger facility on Texas Boulevard. Thomas H. Fuqua Jr. joined the team and with the help of Robert D. Cowley Jr., the Fuqua and Everett families continued to provide the area with sound advice and caring service at times of personal loss. Soon Texarkana Funeral Home became the largest funeral home in the Four States Region.
In 1995 Texarkana Funeral Home purchased Bates-Rolf Funeral Homes in New Boston and DeKalb. Chapelwood Funeral Home, a beautiful modern facility, was built in 2000 serving families in the Nash and Wake Village areas and in 2005, a location was established in Texarkana, Arkansas to serve the families of Miller County.
The Funeral Homes share an affiliation with Hillcrest Memorial Park, the oldest and most prominent perpetual care cemetery in the Four States Area. Located on the grounds of Hillcrest Memorial Park is Hillcrest Crematory, a modern state of the art facility operated by our funeral directors, ensuring that your loved one will never leave our care. In 2016 the company acquired Memorial Gardens Cemetery, a beautiful perpetual care cemetery in Miller County Arkansas.
