To the Taggart Family, I just heard about the passing of a colleague and friend. I meet Bill when I first moved to Charlotte, NC and started working for Wachovia. Bill was a leader and gentle person. We could call on him when we needed a guest speaker at our Urban Financial Services meetings and workshops. May God continue to bless Elizabeth, his Mom and the rest of his family. You are missed. Till we meet again...

Deepest Sympathy to the Taggart Family. I knew Bill when we were undergraduates, freshmen actually, at Howard University. We shared many classes and many long walks to the HU School of Business on Sherman Ave. He was bright, articulate, smart and yet humorous. He was a serious young man who had a vision for his life and goals to strive for. We all did back then. He actually achieved his goals and much, much more. You will be miss missed, Bill Taggart.

Bill was full of joy last we talked, so proud of his family and so excited about a recent trip to LA. He spoke of the fun he had seeing his mother enjoy her time there with them. He was happy to be playing a part in the great story of Morehouse College. I know he is up there watching us but I will miss him here.

The spirit of some will stay with us always.
I recall encountering Bill amongst the new group of Freshman that had convened in the lounge of the upper class Meridian Hill residence hall at Howard University. To witness Bill and his classmate gather and engage in banter and discussion was reminiscence of the time my Freshman classmates shared previously in that same space. The spark of wonderment and excitment which were reflected in Bill's eyes as he hilariously animated his account of a sports event will forever stick with me.
I pray that Bill's passion for life, and the joy that he inspired continues with those that he touched along his journey.
My brother will be missed..., but his spirit will never be forgotten.

To be absent in the body is to be present with the Lord. I have known William Bill Taggart for over 50 years. Our families grew up together in Adamsville. I have many fond memories of my friend. He was in my wedding party. My prayers go out to the Taggart family and especially his daughter Elizabeth and Wonya Lucas. I will miss my dear friend but I shall always remember his smile and encouraging words. I know my friend was a man of faith and had given his life to the Lord and for that I take comfort. Bill was a man dedicated to God and mission for the benefit of others. He was a dedicated leader in higher education at FSA, and a successful financier. Morehouse and his daughter Elizabeth had very special places in his heart. He was taken to eternal rest early, and his presence will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and working with Bill. God bless Bill's family and I pray for their strength in their time of grief.

My heart and prayers are for the Taggart family, Wonya and all of the extended family and friends who loved and worked with Bill. He lit up our lives as a leader, a man of vision and integrity, making the seemingly impossible happen. One quick example: through his tireless leadership in the federal government, he increased by 50% from 6 million to 9 million the number of students from low-income communities to go to college, just in a few short years. He will be remembered as an American hero.He never wavered or faltered, always putting his family first. A man of God truly.

From my first encounter with Bill until my last one just 3 weeks ago, I remain in awe of his confidence, humility, intelligence, humor, warmth and grace to others. "Dollar Bill" Taggart was always comfortable in his own skin. He also had a unique quality that was so inclusive--making everyone feel as though they belonged, and had a special place with him. We will miss his easy smile, gregarious ways and tall majesty that made him stand out in every crowd, and made us proud to be connected to him. He was a real hero and friend. Our prayers and support go out for Elizabeth and the Taggart family, and we thank you for sharing such a wonderful man with the world. Very respectfully,

We all had "neighborhood heroes" growing up. They were usually the older dudes that we looked at in awe. Bill was one of those dudes in our little corner of the Baker Hills Community in the Adamsville section of Southwest Atlanta. Little did I know that his leadership and fine example would last throughout my life. Farewell to my neighborhood, elementary school, college, and fraternity brother hero. I pray that God's peace showers his family, friends, and loved ones as his soul is now at rest with the Heavenly Father!
