Priscilla Grant Obituary

Priscilla D. Grant of Gassville, Arkansas, passed away June 29, 2025, in Mountain Home, Arkansas, at the age of 78.

She was born Sept. 27, 1946, in Logan, West Virginia, the daughter of Harold and Freda Spratt Southworth. She was the sixth of nine children.

She married Carl Velner in 1968 and traveled extensively during their marriage. Priscilla had an extensive career, spanning 43 years with Kaiser Permanente. She worked as the administrative coordinator and had many responsibilities within the company.

Priscilla lived in Gassville since moving from San Lorenzo, California, in 1997. She married Curtis Grant on March 20, 2010, in Mountain Home, Arkansas.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church and involved in their Backpack Program. Prior to Carl's passing, Priscilla was a member of the Midway Volunteer Firefighters Auxiliary. She loved to make Christmas goodies for Baxter County Road and Bridge personnel, the Gassville USPS office and several other local entities, until it became too difficult for her. Her husband, Curtis, continued the baking for a few more years.

Priscilla was generous in giving to organizations she held close to her heart including Arkansas State University-Mountain Home, Bob Davis Veterans Center, Mountain Home Junior ROTC and the Twin Lakes United States Submarine Veterans, Inc. Though incredibly charitable, she was humble in all aspects.

Priscilla is survived by her adored and greatly loved husband, Curtis; one stepdaughter, Tammy Dunstan; sisters Cheryl and Karen; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl; parents; four brothers; two sisters; and her pets (six dogs and three cats).

A memorial service for Priscilla will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2025, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Randy Ludwig officiating. Inurnment will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Mausoleum.

Memorials may be made to the Myers Technical Education Campus at ASUMH, www.asusystemfoundation.org/asu-mountain-home-donation, or a charity of choice.

Aunt Pris was one of my favorites and will be greatly missed by me and many.
Although her body failed her, she retained the always wicked sense of humor and positive attitude. I always looked forward to our sometimes lengthy telephone calls.
I never had the opportunity to meet Curtis, but I know he was a great love and companion to Pris.
Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the service, but I will be there in spirit.
